The Case of the Missing Crayon

Kieran has become an artist.

All day long he asks for 'rayon, 'rayon, if he sees a writing implement he wants it, if he sees a blank piece of paper he wants to decorate it. The only trouble is that his artistic tendencies also extend to sofas, carpets, tables, TVs, clothes and body art.

While he has his crayons he is under strict surveillance, if he wanders away from the paper we have to redirect and not paying attention can be costly to our furniture. Yesterday we didn't pay attention and I know we're going to pay for it. We counted the crayons back into the box last night and ALERT ALERT we have a missing crayon.

We searched high and low but I think Kieran must have hidden it in a secret compartment in a hollowed out book, or maybe he fashioned a secret pocket in his diaper. Wherever he's stashed it I know he's just waiting for us to leave him alone for a few minutes so that he can surprise us with his latest masterpiece.

At least it's not a marker (those are completely banned in our house)! Here's hoping it's not stuck to the carpet somewhere.

Oh boy! Be on the lookout! Send out an APB on the missing crayon! I will pray for your walls and furniture. Have you thought about offering a reward??

Uh oh... We bought REALLY expensive couches that I love before I got pregnant with Sheena. I am enjoying them while they last.

I would say there's every chance you'll eventually find the crayon in the diaper...

Here's hoping he just hidden it though.

Yes I am quite concerned to know if the crayon has turned up? Walls are just so inviting to the creative, improving hand.

Hi. I just found your blog--I am pretty sure our boys are the same age. My son, Joseph, was born in late April 2003. They seem to be into the same things. We are at: emmajoseph.blogspot.com

Good luck finding the crayon!

Amy

I've been reading your blog for a while now and I just started one of my own, called Pinwheels, for parents of children with Down syndrome. Is it okay if I link to yours?

Hi Naomi,

You may not remember me but I'm Antwonette (1andonlybaby) from Webmd. I had been asking about some mommies that I hadn't seen on the boards in awhile and someone gave me your blog spot address. Just wondering how you and the family are doing. My ds is doing good. I can't believe he'll be 4 soon! I'll be leaving the 3 year old board soon. You should stop in and say hi sometimes. I hope no one did anything to drive you away from the message boards. Take care!

Antwonette
